Writer's Block: 9/11

I was a sophmore in high school.  It felt like any other morning: I woke up to my usual morning routine before school.  Turning on my radio, I listened to the dj talk about something music related when he got a call from a listener, informing him of the planes flying into the World Trade Center.  At the time, I had no idea what the Twin Towers were.  Leaving my room, I found my mom doing her makeup in the den and told her what I'd heard.  I remember she jumped from her chair so fast and ran to her room to turn on the tv.  I didn't exactly understand what was going on, but I remembering feeling a bit numb.  By the time we were ready to leave for school, one of the Towers had fallen.  By the time I'd gotten to school, both were one.  Everyone was talking about it, and my science teacher had the tv on so we could hear and see the news for ourselves.

It doesn't feel like it's been ten years since it happened.  Even though I live on the other side of the US, I still feel it.  I was so upset that night, and always get sad when I think about what happened that day.  So many innocent people lost their lives.  My heart goes out to everyone who was touched by those events.  Never to be forgotten.
Where were you?
